YOU CAN CALL “GOOD FRIDAY” GOOD.


I always admire writers and artists who explicitly intertwine their religious convictions in their crafts. And the religion tends not to be mystical, but more or less traditionally Christian. Johnny Hart,, the brilliant and highly honored cartoonist, the creator of “B.C.” and “The Wizard of Id”, exemplifies this best. The most famous of these has come to be known as “The Good Friday Strip”. My favorite is a strip were Wiley,, one of his well-known “B.C.” characters writing on a stone tablet:




Now, who can call “Good Friday” good?

-A term too oft misunderstood-

You, who were bought by the blood of His cross

You can call ”Good Friday” good.
